January 2020
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services/CMS finalizes the decision to cover Acupuncture for Chronic Low Back Pain for Medicare Beneficiaries. 

June 2019
HP 809- LD 1105 passed into law. This law allows certain professionals working in or in collaboration with treatment programs for substance use and co-occurring disorders to train and become licensed Acupuncture Detox Specialists (ADS) administering a 5-needle ear protocol (NADA). Legislative sponsor, Rep. Anne Perry and the MAS worked together to pass this bill into law.

January 2018
In June 2017, HP 141 - LD 185, a pilot project using ear acupuncture (the NADA protocol) to treat substance use disorders sponsored by Rep. Richard Malaby was passed into law. The MAS is pleased to see acupuncture integrated to help solve the opioid epidemic.
